At S.A.L.T Doula Care I aim to embody four main pillars of care: support, advocacy, learning, and trust. Through our time together, I will help you to feel as supported as possible, not just by advocating for you, but by helping you build the confidence you need to advocate for your care and yourself. Pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum are huge milestones in a person’s life and sometimes one can feel overwhelmed by it all. As we work with one another, I will help you learn all you can about the changes and experiences you are going through during labor and birth. I will also help you learn about all of your options regarding where and how you’ll give birth, navigating each step of the process together, accompanied by evidence based information and care. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I will help you to find trust - not just in your doula, but in yourself, and in your body. Trust that you are capable of making the right decisions for yourself and your family. Trust that you are the right person for this. And trust that you will be supported through it all.

S.A.L.T. Doula Care aims to be a safe and inclusive space for all races, genders, sexual orientations, family structures, religious views, income levels, etc. I believe every birthing person deserves safety, respect, and support during this time in their lives. In an effort to uphold that belief, a portion of all profits earned are donated back into my community and organizations that support birthing people, their families and birth workers.

About Me

My name is Shelby Cleveland. Originally from the Myrtle Beach area, I moved to Philadelphia in 2011 for college and decided to stay here permanently after falling in love with the city. I now live in South Philly with my boyfriend, our son, and two cats. After the birth of my own child, and my experience with our wonderful doula during that time, I felt called to birth work and began my birth doula certification with Childbirth International (where I am currently training.) When I’m not supporting you and your family, I like to spend my spare time painting, playing Dungeonsand Dragons, and biking around the city.
